Red Cedar

Native evergreen, slow growing and up to 30 ft. tall. Looks quite similar to a cedar from a distance but it is a tree-sized juniper. Prefers well-drained loamy, rocky or sandy soils with high pH, intolerant of shade. Useful for windbreaks and hedges on tough dry limestone-based soils where little else grows.
